How Same Day Crowns Are Made

Your dentist will have a consultation with you about your dental needs. If they deem that you would benefit from getting a same day crown, they will start this process by using 3D CEREC technology to take a digital scan of your teeth, providing a very accurate digital impression of them.

The Actual Crown is Made

After the impression has been uploaded onto the computer, the crown will be manufactured using computer-aided milling and 3D printing technology. The custom-fit crown is made out of a ceramic or resin material.

Prepping the Tooth

Your dentist may need to remove a small amount of your natural enamel to make more room for your crown to bond with the rest of the tooth. Local anaesthetic is used to numb the area and make this procedure painless.

Fitting the Crown to the Tooth

Your dentist will polish the crown and ensure it will fit over your existing tooth perfectly. They will also colour match it before they bond it to the tooth.
