Improve Your Life with Dental Implants

Tooth loss can be quite an embarrassing situation. The gaps left after tooth extraction alter the structure of the jawbone, causing your cheeks to sink in and making you appear older than you are. Chewing becomes harder, and you may feel less confident about smiling in public. Thankfully, dental implants offer a permanent solution.

    What are Dental Implant Treatments?

Tooth implants are becoming increasingly popular due to their many advantages over traditional dentures. The process involves the surgical insertion of a titanium screw into the jawbone where the gap exists. This screw serves as a permanent fixture to support an artificial tooth. Although it takes a few months to complete, dental implants prevent further tooth loss, strengthen the jawbone, allow for better biting pressure, and provide a completely natural look.

Traditional dentures require time-consuming cleaning routines and can shift around in the mouth, making them uncomfortable and embarrassing for patients. Dental implants overcome these issues, providing a permanent solution so you can enjoy life and the things that matter most to you.

    The Procedure

After evaluating your medical history and examining your teeth, the dentist will create a plan to address the gaps in your teeth. You may be prescribed painkillers before the surgery. You can discuss pain control options with the dentist, ranging from general anesthesia at the hospital to sleep dentistry.

Sleep dentistry allows you to undergo the entire procedure under sedation, keeping you relaxed and somewhat unaware of the surgery. Once appropriate pain relief is administered, the surgeon will create a space in the jawbone to insert the titanium screw. After post-operative care, the jawbone will heal internally through a process called osseointegration, which can take 4 to 6 months. Once this is complete, a replacement tooth will be secured to the connector or abutment on top of the implant.

Replacement teeth come in various shades, and the dentist will select one that matches your other teeth, giving you a superb finish and a wonderful smile.

    Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental implants save you many hassles. Once the treatment is complete, you can brush, floss, and clean your teeth as usual. Replacement teeth are not subject to cavities, although they may experience routine wear and tear.

You will also be able to bite into foods that were difficult to chew due to gaps in your teeth. Dental implant surgery has a very high success rate. However, it is important to follow your dentist’s instructions meticulously to prevent gum infections. Also, remember to attend dentist-recommended follow-up checks.
